Part one of our '55 Chevy Hot Rod Wagon, where builder Tim Strange and dozens of volunteers make a dream come true for a gearhead viewer.
Sheet metal, high tech chassis, and an LS3 with overdrive trans, are just a few of the goodies that get bolted into Chad Terhar's '55 Chevy Handyman.
Quickly surpassing two-thousand man-hours in the car so far, the '55 Chevy gets full paint treatment then heads to final assembly.
The Terhar family from Tacoma, Washington comes to the Tech Center, along with 4 dozen volunteers who returned to see the keys handed over to our worthy viewer.
Shane promised his father on his death bed that he would finish restoring the family truck. Tim and the volunteers lend a hand by honoring a Pennsylvania family.
Volunteers gather for detailed metal fabrication on the second stage of this transformation of a 3/4 ton classic Ford, into a 1/4 ton street rod truck!
Tim and the team head to week 3 with paint and buff a priority as the '48 Ford keeps its traditional look with modern components.
Shane's family, including aunts uncles and cousins arrive to see their 4-generation Ford for the first time after the final week of the build.
Tom Moore's Hudson Hornet was in the process of being restored, when the project stalled for family priorities. Tim and the team rescue a classic.
Unique, ahead of its time, built like a tank - all phrases indicative of the 50's era Hudson automobile. Tim Strange and the team call on the aftermarket to make it even better.
Tom & Lisa Moore join us from their living room to see all the metal Tim and the team cut out of the roof of his '51 Hudson Hornet. Can you say chop?
The Moore family heads to the Tech Center for the unveiling of Tom's classic ride. See how Tim Strange and his team of volunteers came through for this Michigan family.
We help a veteran and St. Louis area firefighter finish what he started: A 1974 Dodge Challenger, by transforming it into a modern pro touring machine.
The original engine was a weak 318ci small block. But HorsPower's Mike and John build a powerful 392 hemi - then dyno the beast with unbelievable results!
Tim Strange uses his skills as a world-class custom painter to create a unique skin on Ty Cardona's classic '74 Dodge Challenger.
The Cardona family and friends head to the Tech Center to see and drive Ty's classic Mopar Muscle in what can best be described as a modern pro-touring machine.
Meet the build team, the classic musclecar, and the recipient of our first Search & Restore project vehicle, a '67 Chevy II Nova.
Blasting reveals patch panels and a rotted floor, as the restoration on Andy's Chevy II goes into high gear!
Volunteers come together with donated parts to make the build up of this '67 Nova a reality for the owner and his kids.
Final assembly of our '67 Nova includes wiring, new upholstery, dash, gauges, headliner and everything else to bring this classic muscle back to life. Tim takes it on a shakedown run, and family takes delivery of their pride and joy.
Search & Restore goes to Pomeroy, OH to rescue a worn out 4x4 driven by a husband and wife who've dedicated their lives to fostering and feeding hungry children.
The restoration of Anthony's pickup is in full gear on this episode of Search & Restore, with the install of a lift kit, brakes, fresh frame and the start of body work.
Body work on Anthony's GMC resumes as this '94 GM 1500 4x4 is treated to a custom paint job with graphics, wheels tires and more.
The grand finale of build two, when the Rowe family travels 9 hours to our shop to pick up Anthony's daily driver pick up. He might not recognize it!
We grab a tired TJ from a West Monroe, LA resident who loves 4-wheeling so much, he and his buddies give rides to disabled kids. We'll trick out his Jeep so he can take his family on trips again.
Volunteers pile into the Tech Center in effort to give Jason Smelser the Jeep he's always dreamed of in part two of our TJ on steroids!
Good guy Jason Smelser won't recognize his TJ when we're done with it. Part III sees the Jeep coming together, with a completely freshened up and rebuilt straight six, transmission rebuild, heavy duty transfer case, body protection and paint and more.
One month, all donated parts. Jason and his family arrive at the Tech Center for our reveal. But it doesn't end there! What is a hardcore Jeep build without seeing exactly what it can do on the trail. So we load everyone up and head into the woods.
We take a worn out '67 Mustang coupe and give it the full treatment, all for an American veteran who enlisted after 9-11, and was injured in Iraq.
Engine build how-to on a Ford Racing short block, and onto the dyno room to build some power! Plus Strange gives the Mustang his full-on hot rod paint treatment.
Exhaust, suspension, Interior... it all comes together as we near the end of our Mustang build we're doing for US Army veteran Paul Kahler and his family.
Four weeks of intense labor and the Mustang will be ready to give back to a deserving veteran, when Paul Kahler and his family arrive at the Tech Center.
Ty Cardona sold his Barracuda as a teen to start a family. 26 years later his kids are grown, and a replacement Mopar sits in his driveway undone. Ty's a firefighter who spends his free time helping others. So we decided to help finish his dream car.
The Fabulous Hudson Hornet is legend, in NASCAR racing, in animated film, and now on PowerBlock, when Tim Strange rescues a stalled project from a Michigan viewer. Volunteers gently transform history into a show-stopping lead sled right before your eyes!
Shane Skennonto is a 36 year old construction safety manager in Philadelphia, PA. His girlfriend Amy wrote The PowerBlock asking us to help finish Shane's 1948 Ford F2 pickup that had been sitting in his father's garage since he passed away three years ago. Tim Strange and our Search & Restore team traveled to York, Pennsylvania - to surprise him with makeover of this classic truck, fulfilling a dream both his late father and grandfather had for the family. Shane calls this a "4-gen Ford" as Shane and Amy's 2 year old son will now be able to enjoy this family heirloom for many years to come, a piece of history that dates back to his great-grandfather.
In spite of being in a wheelchair, gearhead Chad Terhar never let his disability get in the way of his dream of rebuilding his dream car - a classic 1955 Chevy 210 Handyman. His wife calls him "handi-capable!" But when we learned Chad needed help finishing his project, Tim and the team traveled to Tacoma, Washington to surprise him with a well deserved makeover.
More volunteers and mucho gallons of primer paint and clear are part of week 3 as the car progresses to better than new condition. Build leader Tim Strange provides step-by-step how to on the car painting process, plus how to get that million dollar shine!
Tim and Tommy travel to Colorado Springs, CO where they meet Paul Kahler war veteran, Purple Heart recipient, and current Sergeant in the Colorado National Guard. His brother bought him his dream car when he got out of the Army back in 2006. But the turquoise '67 Mustang Coupe has seen better days. It's trailered back to the PowerBlock Tech Center for a Tim Strange transformation into a modern "G-machine" street rod.
Jason Smelser is a dedicated husband and family man with an under-powered Jeep TJ, so when Search & Restore found out what Jason does to give back to his community, we didn't want to pass up the opportunity to apply some much-needed TLC to his off-road renegade.
The second build for Search & Restore takes us to Pomeroy, Ohio, where Anthony and Cindy Rowe live with their eight children. Anthony has a 1994 GMC 1500, his daily driver he's had to fix every few weeks, that is, until Search & Restore comes to retrieve it.
In the second build of Search & Restore, we travel to Pomeroy, OH, to meet Anthony, who commutes to his job at the penitentiary in a worn-out '94 GMC Sierra. Rusted through, it's his daily driver. But fixing up the 4x4 is a distant second to raising his two biological, and five adopted, children. Search & Restore to the rescue!
In the second part of the Sierra build on Search & Restore, the Royal Purple Build Team gets seriously busy building one rusted-through 4x4. The salty Southern Ohio roads haven?t been good to Anthony?s GMC, so it?s getting a new crate motor, junkyard frame, lift kit, suspension, and more!
Andy's '67 Chevy II had been sitting for 2 years, no motor, trans, after cancer took the life of his 30 year old wife. Raising 3 kids solo, left no time or money to rebuild the car the kids call 'Casper'. Our Loctite Team hopes to make a dream come true.
