When building an engine for the street and strip, you want the most performance and power for your money. A great place to start is a partial engine, or short block like our ZZ383 motor from GM Performance Parts. For this edition of Bang for the Buck, we're building a top end for our ZZ383 with a Summit Racing kit that includes a set of Dart Pro 1 cylinder heads, Dart Single Plane intake manifold, Crower Hyrdaulic roller cam, set of Summit's push rods and rocker arms, and Comp Cams lifters. This kit does not include a carburetor, but we opted for a Street Avenger 770 cfm with vacuum secondaries and a manual choke.

Compression Ratio for this motor is 9.25 to 1, designed to run on 93 octane fuel.

Our dyno run resulted in a peak torque of 401lbs/ft @ 5300rpm, and 421hp @ 5700rpm.

The combination price for this top end kit is $1,969.95. It's an ideal strip and strip combination with low enough compression to support a nitros oxide system.
